incessant machinery of a disquieted ruling class constantly undermines the coalition’s policy goals, particularly through lawfare and corporate media smears. Unsurprisingly, despite evidence of Petro’s impressive performance in his first year in office given these challenges, most of the country’s opinion polls show his approval ratings down from 56 percent when he was appointed to just 33 percent. However, a recent Strategic Center Latin American of Geopolitics report suggests that around 90 percent of those who voted for the coalition continue to approve its mandate.

✏️ The power of propaganda and controlling the narrative. Ruling class don’t want him, and it’s hard to tell if “opinion” polls can be trusted when the elite/corps control the media. Mix in the fact that 90% of those that voted for him approve his mandate so far. 👓 propaganda 🔗 View Highlight

  • Dealing with land rights and distribution by awarding land titles to rural families quickly and enmasse.
  • Dealing peacefully with local guerrillas and militant groups
  • Citizens’ Rent program that subsidizes rent for two million vulnerable people.
  • Calling out for devaluation of fossil fuel companies
  • Policies to spend more on Amazon protection/regeneration 🔗 View Highlight
