Tomorrow’s illiterate will not be the man who can’t read; he will be the man who has not learned how to learn.
✏️ Combined with the earlier quote about learning, unlearning and relearning.. we come to a critical ability that everyone must have. Learning once is practically folly. Seeing how much changes on all scales.. your own personal shifts, your community, your nation, your world.. sciences, values, understandings, faiths, beliefs, etc. Everything is changing all the time, and if you don’t allow for the unlearning and relearning of things all the time, you’re doomed to be stuck, to be pissed off, to feel left out, to feel disappointed.. to have unhealthy nostalgia for the past. This feels like a key point. We sometimes crave nostalgia for the way things were, because those were the times when we learned what we learned.. and we haven’t shifted, and the world did.. but our reaction isn’t to catch up, but to try and drag back. followup 🔗 View Highlight
