Digital ownership fits into a large question about the unearned trust we have placed in corporations maintaining our access to content that we paid for and supposedly “own”. followup Another tangential question is about the proper preservation and archiving of all data, and maintaining its authenticity. We’re a hair breadth away from losing so much information and knowledge, and we have no guarantees that data stays as is and isn’t changed over time, by any person with an agenda. These are things we lose when we move from the physical.

Shows disappearing from streaming services is commonplace, but in this case, people are losing access to shows they bought to watch on demand whenever they wanted.
