age-old law of patriarchy: women’s bodies being available for men.
✏️ Sometimes we need to be reminded of this. It’s not always about desire. But it is always about power. That’s at the heart of patriarchy. 🔗 View Highlight

We keep being told “this is just the way we are.” But there is nothing less “spontaneous” than what’s been going on for centuries.
✏️ Another thing that comes up a lot is that people feel ruffled and annoyed by all these modern changes. Not being happy with how things were done; seeing more inclusive and representational diversity in media; etc. When we’re inundated with examples of these things all the time and that they’re getting attention and they’re being forced into the daily discourse, many people (even performatively left-leaning people), feel it’s too forced and too much and too aggressive. People are actually annoyed with the changes, and more so, they’re annoyed with how forceful and in your face and constant it is. “Stop shoving down woke agendas at me.. why does everything have to be gay?.. Why is this being made a big deal when it’s just people’s nature and how we used to do things?” Guess what? For decades and more, we’ve been inundated with patriarchy, white colonialism, rampant and destructive capitalism, etc. in all our media and news. That became our baseline even though it wasn’t natural. We were being indoctrinated with a particular subset of preferences, and now the marginalized and terrorized groups can finally have a bit of a platform. They need to be in your face! They need to be forceful. They’ve earned it and they deserve it. #followup potentialpiece 🔗 View Highlight
